Silent Scream 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Release Scheduled for July 8

Silent Scream (1979), directed by Denny Harris, arrives on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on July 8. The film stars Rebecca Balding, Cameron Mitchell, Barbara Steele, Yvonne De Carlo, and Avery Schreiber in a slasher story set inside a Victorian mansion turned boarding house.

The plot follows co-ed Scotty (Rebecca Balding) who takes a room in the Engels' mansion near the sea while looking for housing. The seemingly hospitable Mrs. Engels (Yvonne De Carlo) and her son hide dark secrets, as brutal murders begin affecting the boarders. Detectives played by Avery Schreiber and Cameron Mitchell investigate the grisly occurrences.

Written and produced by Ken and Jim Wheat—known for their work on Nightmare on Elm Street 4, The Fly II, and Pitch Black—the film features renowned horror icon Barbara Steele in a memorable role. This release highlights the film's stylistic qualities as a notable entry from the independent slasher era.

The two-disc set includes a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative presented in HDR10. Audio options include 5.1 surround and lossless 2.0 soundtracks with optional English subtitles. There are two audio commentaries: one featuring writers Jim and Ken Wheat alongside Rebecca Balding, and another with Barbara Steele moderated by film historian David Del Valle.
