Mystic River
Director: Clint Eastwood
Actors: Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon
PlotIn a quiet Boston neighborhood, three young boys' lives are forever altered when one of them is abducted and sexually assaulted. The trauma of the event fractures their friendship and sends them spiraling into vastly different directions. As adults, they have taken on separate paths: one is an ex-convict trying to live a normal life, another is a family man engulfed in a volatile marriage, and the third is a state police detective. Their childhood bond is a distant memory, overshadowed by the shadows of their past experiences.
Years later, a tragic event forces their paths to cross once again. The daughter of the family man is found murdered, reigniting old wounds and stirring a mix of sorrow, suspicion, and latent vengeance among the three men. As the police detective investigates the case, the lines between right and wrong blur, and the men find themselves caught in a web of unresolved childhood trauma, compounded by the fresh anguish of the current tragedy. The murder investigation becomes a journey into the heart of their shared history, unearthing secrets that threaten to shatter the fragile semblance of peace they've each fought to build in their adult lives.
