Women in Love 4K Blu-ray Arrives July 14 from BFI
Ken Russell's 1969 film restored in 4K with extensive special features and Dolby Vision presentation
The British Film Institute releases Ken Russell's Women in Love on 4K Blu-ray, scheduled for July 14, 2025. This edition presents the film with a 4K restoration and Dolby Vision HDR, offering an enhanced visual experience.
Women in Love adapts D H Lawrence’s novel, exploring complex human relationships and societal changes after the First World War. The film stars Alan Bates, Oliver Reed, Glenda Jackson, Jennie Linden, and Eleanor Bron. It earned four Academy Award nominations, with Glenda Jackson winning Best Actress.
The film gained attention for its notable wrestling scene and the artistic direction acclaimed for opulence and cinematography. Considered one of Russell's key works, the release includes robust special features reflecting on the film’s production and legacy.
Included supplements feature newly recorded interviews such as "Human Relations" with Ken Russell’s son Alexander Verney-Elliott, the 1989 documentary "A British Picture: Portrait of an Enfant Terrible," and period interviews from ATV Today. Also featured are audio commentaries by Russell and writer-producer Larry Kramer, a conversation between cinematographers Billy Williams and Phil Méheux, and additional documentaries focusing on Glenda Jackson.
The disc provides optional English SDH subtitles. The first pressing offers an illustrated booklet containing new essays and archival materials.
