The Buster Keaton Show Blu-ray Arrives September 16
Liberation Hall releases restored episodes and rare footage from Buster Keaton's 1950 TV series
The Buster Keaton Show arrives on Blu-ray from Liberation Hall, scheduled for September 16, 2025. This release features nine existing episodes from the original thirteen produced in 1950, digitally restored and upgraded to high resolution by archivist Jeff Joseph.
The series marked Keaton's return to acting after a near five-year hiatus, following his appearances on Ed Wynn’s CBS variety show in 1949 and other sporadic performances. Originally broadcast live on CBS's West Coast feed and distributed via kinescope recordings, the show never reached transcontinental broadcast until 1951.
These episodes demonstrate Keaton's signature physical comedy, although the absence of a studio audience and live laughter affected the show's reception despite strong initial West Coast ratings. Notably, the episode from February 23, 1950, is included here for the first time on any home format, while the February 2, 1950 episode has not been seen since its original air date.
The Blu-ray also includes several special features spanning Keaton’s career and era, with content presented in HD and SD formats covering short films and television appearances.
