The Reef Blu-ray Arrives October 8 from Umbrella Entertainment
Australian shark thriller The Reef comes on Blu-ray with new commentary and interviews
The Reef releases on Blu-ray from Australian label Umbrella Entertainment on October 8, 2025. Directed by Andrew Traucki (Black Water), this tense sharksploitation horror focuses on a group stranded at sea, stalked by a great white shark.
The film follows Luke (Damian Walshe-Howling) and his crewmates Matt (Gyton Grantley), Suzie (Adrienne Pickering), Kate (Zoe Naylor), and Warren (Kieran Darcy-Smith) after their yacht capsizes near Indonesian waters. Their desperate swim to safety becomes a harrowing encounter with real sharks filmed without CGI.
This Blu-ray edition features a new audio commentary by director Andrew Traucki, moderated by journalist David Michael Brown, and fresh interviews with actors Gyton Grantley and Adrienne Pickering. Additional extras include Laurent Auclair’s featurette "A Shark’s Tale," a behind-the-scenes stills gallery, and the making-of documentary "Shooting With Sharks."
The main feature includes optional English subtitles. The use of actual sharks provides authentic suspense, continuing Traucki’s approach of practical effects seen in Black Water.
