Storm Center Blu-ray Arrives August 18 from Indicator/Powerhouse Films
Indicator/Powerhouse Films releases Storm Center Blu-ray featuring a high definition remaster and extensive new supplements.
Storm Center stars Bette Davis, Brian Keith, Kim Hunter, and Paul Kelly in a drama focused on censorship and its impact. The film follows idealistic librarian Alicia (Davis), who faces dismissal after refusing to remove a controversial book from her library. Despite support from a local judge (Kelly), attorney Paul (Keith) spearheads opposition, sparking community conflict.
Directed and co-written by Daniel Taradash, known for Knock on Any Door, the film offers a critical examination of tolerance and freedom of speech issues relevant to its era and beyond.
This release from Indicator/Powerhouse Films includes a high definition remaster with original mono audio. It features a newly recorded audio commentary by professor and film scholar Jason A Ney (2025), alongside Lies Lanckman’s 2025 analysis of the film’s themes and production.
Archival content includes a 1986 audio interview with legendary designer Saul Bass from the National Film Theatre in London, plus the original theatrical trailer. The package provides a newly improved English subtitle track designed for the deaf and hard of hearing.
A limited edition exclusive booklet accompanies the disc, containing a new essay by Maggie Hennefeld, archival material on the making of the film, an overview of contemporary critical responses, and complete film credits.
