Indicator releases The Rainbow Jacket on Blu-ray featuring a high definition remaster and extensive extras, available August 19
The Rainbow Jacket (1954), from Ealing Studios, releases on Blu-ray through Indicator with a high definition remaster and original mono audio. This British drama features Robert Morley, Kay Walsh, Bill Owen, and Honor Blackman in a story of ambition and integrity set against the horse racing world.
Directed and produced by Basil Dearden and Michael Relph and scripted by T E B Clarke, the film follows disgraced jockey Sam (Owen) mentoring young hopeful Georgie (Fella Edmonds), navigating the challenges of redemption.
This Indicator Limited Edition Blu-ray offers a robust set of special features: Sweet Redemption (2025), an introduction to the film by director James Dearden; Racing at Ealing (2021), interviews with crew members; and Jockey of the Jacket (2021), recalling actor Fella Edmonds’ experience. The release also includes the original theatrical trailer, image galleries with promotional materials and the dialogue continuity script, plus new English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
A highlight is the exclusive booklet containing a new essay by Robert Murphy, archival profiles on Honor Blackman, Bill Owen, and Fella Edmonds, an archival production report, extracts from the original pressbook, and full film credits. This marks the US Blu-ray premiere of the film.
