Jim Henson's The Storyteller Complete Collection Blu-ray Arrives August 11
Fabulous Films releases all episodes of the classic series plus Greek Myths on a two-disc Blu-ray set
Jim Henson's The Storyteller: The Complete Collection (1987-1988) arrives on Blu-ray from British label Fabulous Films scheduled for August 11. This two-disc set features all nine episodes of the original series, blending human actors and Jim Henson's Creature Shop creations in retellings of classic folk tales and fables.
Narrated by Academy Award nominee John Hurt (The Elephant Man), the series includes stories like The Three Ravens and The Heartless Giant, scripted by Academy Award-winning writer-director Anthony Minghella (The English Patient). The cast boasts Miranda Richardson, Jane Horrocks, Sean Bean, Jonathan Pryce, Brenda Blethyn, Jennifer Saunders, Joely Richardson, and Dawn French.
Also included is The Storyteller: Greek Myths, a four-episode series revisiting iconic myths such as Daedalus and Icarus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Perseus and the Gorgon, and Theseus and the Minotaur. This segment features performances by Michael Gambon, Derek Jacobi, Pat Roach, and Art Malik alongside Creature Shop effects.
The Blu-ray presentation comes from HD masters supplied by the studio, sourced from the original tape masters containing visual effects. This release offers a definitive edition of Jim Henson’s storytelling legacy in high definition for collectors and fans alike.
