High Tension: Four Films by Lamberto Bava Blu-ray Box Set Out August 26

High Tension: Four Films by Lamberto Bava arrives as a 4-Disc Blu-ray + CD box set from Severin Films, presenting the official worldwide Blu-ray premiere of this Italian TV anthology series from the late 1980s. Due to its extreme themes and graphic violence, the series was originally blocked from broadcast and circulated only as grey market bootlegs for years.

The set includes four films directed by Lamberto Bava: The Prince of Terror, The Man Who Wouldn't Die, School of Fear, and Eye Witness. Each film is scanned in 2K from the original camera negatives and features both the original Italian audio tracks and first-time ever English language tracks, with English subtitles and closed captions.

The first film, The Prince of Terror, stars Tomas Arana as a horror director targeted by a disgruntled screenwriter. It includes an audio commentary, interviews with Bava, and effects work by Sergio Stivaletti. The Man Who Wouldn't Die adapts a poliziotteschi short story and focuses on vengeance after an art heist goes wrong. School of Fear explores dark secrets at an exclusive student academy, starring Daria Nicolodi. The giallo finale, Eye Witness, features Barbara Cupisti as a blind witness to murder.

This box set also contains over five hours of new special features including interviews with directors, screenwriters, and composers. Accompanying the discs is a soundtrack CD curated by Simon Boswell, drawn from High Tension and other genre films such as Demons 2 and Delirium. The artwork is designed by Eric Adrian Lee. All discs are region-free with an aspect ratio of 1.66:1.
