A Life in Dirty Movies Blu-ray Releases June 24 from Film Movement

A Life in Dirty Movies is set to arrive on Blu-ray June 24 from Film Movement. Directed by Wiktor Ericsson, the 2013 documentary explores the life and work of legendary sexploitation filmmaker Joe Sarno, often called the Ingmar Bergman of 42nd Street, and his wife Peggy, who was also his collaborator.

The film follows the couple over a year, spotlighting Sarno’s efforts at age 88 to produce a female-centric softcore film reminiscent of his 1960s style. The narrative shifts between their winter in Manhattan and summer in Sweden, providing an intimate look at Sarno's career and the evolution of softcore cinema that gave way to hardcore porn, which significantly impacted his career.

This release captures Sarno's place in film history as an erotic auteur whose creative ambitions exceeded genre expectations. The documentary is both a sincere portrait of this unique partnership and a reflection on a transformative era in adult film.
