The Lion King
Director: Jon Favreau
Actors: Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen
PlotIn the expansive and wildlife-rich Pride Lands of Africa, King Mufasa rules over the animal kingdom with wisdom and benevolence. As a leader respected by all creatures, he guides the circle of life and prepares for the future by teaching his young cub, Simba, the responsibilities of royalty and the importance of balance within the natural world. This peaceful existence is cherished by the animals, who honor the king and his family. However, not all are content under Mufasa’s leadership—his brother, Scar, harbors jealousy and a thirst for power, feeling overlooked and desirous of the throne.
Simba’s innocence and curiosity lead him on a journey of self-discovery, accompanied by his loyal friend Nala and mentored by his father. The prince’s playful and adventurous spirit is tempered by the lessons that Mufasa imparts about leadership and responsibility. But the harmony of the Pride Lands is broken when Scar conspires to seize power, setting into motion a series of events that test Simba’s bravery and virtues. Amidst the backdrop of treachery and betrayal, Simba is forced to flee from all he knows, leaving behind his home and destiny, only to encounter a pair of unlikely companions who challenge his outlook on life and his rightful place in the world.
