New Extremity Collection Volume 2 Collector's Edition Hits October 8
Umbrella Entertainment releases a limited edition box set with uncut films and extensive new extras
Umbrella Entertainment releases the New Extremity Collection Volume 2 Collector's Edition on October 8, 2025. This limited numbered edition is available exclusively through Umbrella's webstore. It features four provocative films that defined the New French Extremity and boundary-pushing cinema era from 1997 to 2003.
The set includes Dobermann, Fat Girl (À Ma Soeur), In My Skin (Dans Ma Peau), and Twentynine Palms. All films are presented completely uncut and uncensored. The collector's edition supplements the movies with a substantial 100-page book featuring essays by Jack Sargeant, Matt Konopka, Emma Westwood, and Martyn Conterio, alongside custom artwork by Chris Malbon (Melbs), eight artcards, and two A3 reversible posters.
Dobermann stars Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci in an action-packed urban western. It includes multiple new audio commentaries with filmmakers and historians, plus new interviews conducted in 2024, deleted scenes with introductions, featurettes on visual effects, storyboards, and a trailer.
Fat Girl by Catherine Breillat offers an unflinching look at female adolescence. Its extras include a new audio commentary with critic Kat Ellinger, new critical essays from Zoe Rose Smith and Nadine Whitney, an interview with Breillat, a making-of featurette, her Q&A session, Berlin Film Festival footage, and trailers.
In My Skin from Marina de Van explores bodily alienation through raw horror. This disc contains new audio commentaries with Kat Ellinger and Martyn Conterio, an audio commentary with de Van herself, an exclusive 2025 interview, her short films "Bien Sous Tous Rapports" and "Rétention", plus U.S. and French trailers.
Twentynine Palms by Bruno Dumont examines complex personal and political themes. Extras include new critical essays by Anton Bitel and Martyn Conterio, audio commentary with Stephen A Russell, interviews spanning 2003 to 2022 with cast and crew, a making-of documentary, and a trailer.
This deluxe edition also offers a standard softpack version from select retailers but reserves the extensive extras and collectible items for the Collector’s Edition.
