The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 4K Blu-ray Arrives August 26
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes 2003 remake restored in 4K with extensive special features and archival commentary
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (2003), directed by Marcus Nispel and produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, returns on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on August 26. This edition presents a Dolby Vision HDR transfer sourced from the original materials, featuring original DTS-HD MA 7.1 and 5.1 surround audio plus lossless stereo audio. Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing are included.
The film narrates the story of a group of young adults whose road trip through Texas takes a horrific turn when they encounter the infamous Hewitt family, including their chainsaw-wielding son. The release captures the intense, violent atmosphere of the original while offering a detailed technical upgrade.
Special features showcase new and archival audio commentaries including sessions with director Marcus Nispel, producer Michael Bay, writer Scott Kosar, executive producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, New Line Cinema founder Robert Shaye, cast members including Jessica Biel, and key crew like director of photography Daniel Pearl and composer Steve Jablonsky.
The package also includes a new interview series such as Reimagining a Classic with Nispel, Shadows of Yesteryear with Daniel Pearl, The Lost Leatherface with Brett Wagner, Masks and Massacres with makeup effects artist Scott Stoddard, and Chainsaw Symphony with Jablonsky.
