Rosa la rose, fille publique Blu-ray with 2K Restoration Arrives July 22
Paul Vecchiali’s 1986 drama restored in 2K and released with archival and new interviews, subtitles, and limited edition packaging
Rosa la rose, fille publique (1986), directed by Paul Vecchiali, arrives on Blu-ray on July 22 featuring a new 2K restoration approved by the director. The film stars Marianne Basler, Pierre Cosso, Jean Sorel, Catherine Lachens, Pierre Oudrey, and Noël Simsolo and portrays the Parisian nightlife through the eyes of Rosa, a young prostitute navigating class and female sexuality.
Presented with original uncompressed PCM mono audio, the release includes newly improved English subtitles and offers a region-free presentation. The film captures the tension of Rosa's life as it shifts markedly after her twentieth birthday, highlighted by Marianne Basler’s central performance at age 20.
Supplemental materials feature a 2025 interview with critic David Jenkins, archival interviews from 1985 with director Paul Vecchiali and actors Marianne Basler and Jean Sorel. The release comes in a limited edition of 3000 copies housed in full-height Scanavo packaging with a removable OBI strip, allowing for a clean presentation free of certificates or markings.
Packaging includes a reversible sleeve presenting original promotional designs along with a booklet containing archival interviews and new writing by Marina Ashioti.
The release is scheduled for U.S. and Canada on July 22 and for the UK on July 21 under the Radiance label.
