Death Carries a Cane 4K Blu-ray Limited Edition Arrives September 22
Indicator releases a new 4K Blu-ray restoration of Maurizio Pradeaux's giallo classic with extensive special features
Death Carries a Cane arrives on 4K Blu-ray as part of Indicator’s limited edition release scheduled for September 22, 2025. This edition features a new 4K HDR restoration from the original negative by Powerhouse Films, presented in Dolby Vision with HDR10 compatibility.
The disc offers two presentations of the film: the Italian version Passi di danza su una lama di rasoio and the English-language version Death Carries a Cane, both with original mono audio. The film stars Robert Hoffmann, Nieves Navarro (credited as Susan Scott), and George Martín in a giallo mystery where tourist Kitty witnesses a murder and teams up with her boyfriend to uncover the black-clad killer.
Special features include an audio commentary from historians Eugenio Ercolani, Troy Howarth, and Nathaniel Thompson recorded in 2024. Additional supplements document the making and legacy of the film: editor Eugenio Alabiso recalls his work in "A Life in the Suite" (2024), while Ercolani discusses director Maurizio Pradeaux’s career. Pierpaolo De Sanctis, founder of Four Flies Records, examines the film’s score by Roberto Pregadio.
Also included are the original German theatrical trailer, an image gallery of promotional material, new and improved English translation subtitles for the Italian soundtrack, and enhanced English subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers on the English version.
This edition is limited to 5,000 individually numbered units across 4,000 4K UHD and 1,000 Blu-ray copies, marking the world premiere of Death Carries a Cane on 4K UHD exclusively in the UK.
