Spectacle leads the soapy drama; a strong 4K upgrade with vibrant color and fixes, and a punchy Dolby Atmos mix—even if on-disc extras are thin.

A fresh 4K scan with a bright HDR grade delivers crisp detail, vibrant primaries, dense blacks, and naturally resolved grain—erasing the old Blu-ray’s harsh edge enhancement. Aside from a few fleeting, source-limited soft/washed shots, this is an energetic, attractive upgrade.
Audio: 76
Universal’s Dolby Atmos remix impresses: deep, rumbly bass and seamless surrounds/heights sell the quakes—helicopters and debris convincingly overhead—while John Williams’ score gains clarity and weight. Dialogue stays centered, if a bit dated. Original Sensurround 2.1 is included.
Extra: 0
Extras are effectively nonexistent: the 4K disc includes no on‑disc supplements. For bonus content, the earlier Shout Factory release remains the closest to definitive.
Movie: 71
A grounded, model-driven spectacle of L.A. in ruin, Earthquake still shakes thanks to plausible miniature effects and a stacked ’70s cast. Universal’s 4K UHD delivers Dolby Atmos or 2.1 DTS Sensurround, though the disc omits on-disc extras.
