Moneyball
Director: Bennett Miller
Actors: Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill
PlotA seasoned general manager of a financially disadvantaged major league baseball team is faced with the daunting task of assembling a competitive team after losing his star players to wealthier teams. Constrained by a limited budget, he challenges the conventional wisdom of the sport's talent scouts and player selection process. His revolutionary approach is met with resistance and skepticism from traditionalists within the organization who are devoted to the established methods of player evaluation.
In his quest to build a winning team with limited resources, the general manager encounters a young, Yale-educated economist with a radical approach to gauging player value. Utilizing statistical analysis and sabermetrics, they identify undervalued players who are overlooked by other teams due to unconventional or unimpressive traits. Together, they assemble a team of misfits who collectively possess the potential to excel in specific, underappreciated statistics. As the season progresses, their experimental approach is put to the test in the highly competitive environment of professional baseball.
