She's Out of My League's DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack delivers clear dialogue and dynamic sound effects, excelling in moments with rich surround support and effective low frequency details. However, inconsistent dialogue levels can necessitate volume adjustments, particularly in dialogue-heavy scenes.

The Blu-ray extras for 'She's Out of My League' offer a decent, fan-friendly experience with an informative director commentary by Jim Field Smith, the humorous Devon's Dating Show featuring in-character tips, a standard blooper reel, and a selection of insightful deleted scenes and an alternative ending.

'She's Out of My League' offers a fun divergence with well-balanced comedic and heartfelt scenes, strong character development, and relatable performances from Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve, despite following a predictable romantic comedy formula with a guy's perspective as the central focus, set against a refreshingly non-NYC backdrop.

Paramount presents "She's Out of My League" on Blu-Ray with a consistently competent 1080p, 2.35:1-framed transfer. The high bitrate ensures that the video is solid throughout, delivering clean, sharp, and dimensionally satisfying images. Detail is exemplary, as viewers can appreciate the texture of cloth furniture and the roughness of pavement. Fine details in textures and fabrics are well rendered, although facial details at times appear softer and flatter due to what seems to be the use of a diffusion filter, creating a dreamlike effect with warm light halos.
Colors are particularly noteworthy; the warm palette, while sometimes imparting an orange tint to fleshtones, contributes to the overall eye-catching appeal of brighter shades such as green grasses and blue water in backyard scenes. Blacks are uniformly deep, exhibiting excellent dynamic range without crushing. While there are rare moments of softness, the clarity and sharpness hold up well in most scenes, maintaining good depth and detail throughout.
The transfer's technical fidelity is praiseworthy, given its adherence to preserving the original visual intent without introducing compression-related artifacts or technical anomalies. Contrast is applied boldly but faithfully, ensuring images remain pristinely rendered. In conclusion, while this Blu-ray transfer may not astound the most discerning videophiles, it certainly stands as a commendable, stable presentation that does justice to the film's visual demands.
Audio: 52
The Blu-ray release of "She's Out of My League" exhibits a proficient DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Primarily dialogue-driven, the audio presentation ensures clarity and articulation through the center channel, although variations in dialogue loudness are noticeable, especially in the opening scenes featuring Jay Baruchel’s character. Users might need to adjust volume levels to compensate for these fluctuations, which can range from mumbling dialogue to the roaring flyover of a jet, making calibration a bit challenging.
Despite these minor issues, the soundtrack delivers a satisfying auditory experience. The mix handles various elements seamlessly, including the musical score, which is well-balanced and incorporates some dynamic Hall and Oats tracks. Low-frequency effects (LFE) are notably effective during party scenes and moments involving powerful sound effects like jet engines and hockey game hits, adding depth and punchiness when necessary. Background ambiance is convincingly rendered, with airport scene chatter and intercom announcements contributing to a realistic environment.
The soundstage usage extends to occasional but effective surround sound implementation, aiding in immersive experiences without overwhelming the viewer. Instances like a backyard pool scene benefit from proper imaging, spreading sounds naturally across the listening area. Despite its general talk- and music-heavy nature, other ambient noises such as water sounds and party environments are captured well. Overall, while the audio presentation of "She’s Out of My League" may not be groundbreaking, it does a commendable job in delivering a coherent and immersive experience fitting for this genre.
Extras: 30
The Blu-ray release of "She's Out of My League" offers a concise yet appealing collection of extras that should please fans of the film. The standout inclusion is the director commentary with Jim Field Smith, who provides an informative walkthrough from production details to scene intricacies. However, the solo commentary might not captivate all listeners, as its straightforward approach lacks engaging anecdotes. "Devon's Dating Show!" emerges as the highlight among the features, delivering humorous dating advice from characters Devon and Dylan in a faux advice show format. Additional content includes a blooper reel composed of the usual on-set flubs and laughter, alongside five deleted scenes with optional director's commentary for added insight into the film's editing choices.
Extras included in this disc:
- Director commentary with Jim Field Smith: Informative but straightforward director-only commentary.
- Devon's Dating Show!: Humorous faux advice show starring characters Devon and Dylan.
- 5 deleted scenes: Includes optional director commentary, providing insight into cuts and edits.
- Blooper reel: Compilation of humorous outtakes and on-set blunders.

"She's Out of My League" is a quintessential modern romantic comedy that stands out by flipping the traditional genre focus, emphasizing a male perspective. The film follows Kirk (Jay Baruchel), a nine-to-fiver with low self-esteem, who unexpectedly finds himself dating Molly (Alice Eve), a seemingly perfect 10. Amidst the familiar settings of Pittsburgh, the film unfolds with humor and authenticity, making it easy to root for Kirk's transformation. Baruchel delivers a relatable performance, encapsulating the everyman in a way that's endearing and believable, while Eve's portrayal of Molly adds depth beyond mere eye candy, contributing to the story's charm.
Technically, "She's Out of My League" strikes a balance between raunchy humor and heartfelt moments. With well-crafted dialogue and strong character development, the movie navigates the predictable plot points gracefully. Director Jim Field Smith opts for straightforward visual storytelling, allowing the actors' chemistry to shine through. The Pittsburgh setting adds a refreshing backdrop, enhancing the film's overall appeal. Supported by a solid cast, including T.J. Miller, Mike Vogel, and Nate Torrence, the movie rises above typical rom-com fare through its genuine character portrayals and sincere narrative.
Overall, "She's Out of My League" benefits from its blend of comedy and sincerity, making it a refreshing take on the genre. The film's dialogue is peppered with humorous exchanges, yet it doesn't shy away from meaningful, softer scenes that elevate the story. Through well-balanced character arcs and performances, especially by Baruchel and Eve, the film successfully delivers an entertaining and heartwarming cinematic experience without resorting to formulaic clichés.

"She's Out of My League" provides a refreshing twist on the Romantic Comedy genre, focusing largely on the male perspective to offer a film both genders will find enjoyable. This high-energy movie is well-paced and directed with a smart, albeit reserved approach. Importantly, it thrives on characters that are not only likable but also easy to root for, making the central relationship engaging and fun to watch. These qualities make the film a standout within its genre.
Paramount’s Blu-ray release of "She's Out of My League" is technically competent, albeit not particularly groundbreaking. The 1080p transfer delivers a respectable visual experience, and the lossless soundtrack ensures audio clarity, though neither element truly excels. The disc features a modest array of special features that add some additional value but do not significantly elevate the overall package. For genre fans or those seeking a relatively safe yet entertaining date movie, this Blu-ray is a solid, albeit unspectacular, option.
In conclusion, "She's Out of My League" impresses with its blend of humor and heartfelt moments, rising above initial skepticism. While the Blu-ray might not be a visual or auditory revelation, it is commendable within its functional scope. This film makes for a delightful viewing experience and offers enough charm to warrant a recommendation. Whether revisiting with friends or exploring for the first time, "She's Out of My League" is a delightful addition to any romantic comedy collection.

PlotKirk Kettner is an average, insecure airport security worker stuck in a dead-end job. Surrounded by friends who are equally directionless, his self-esteem takes a further hit when he realizes his former girlfriend has moved on. Everything changes when he accidentally meets Molly, an intelligent and stunning event planner, at the airport. When Molly leaves her phone behind, Kirk returns it and she expresses her gratitude by inviting him to a hockey game. To his astonishment, they hit it off and she shows genuine interest in him. Despite their chemistry, Kirk doubts that someone as extraordinary as Molly could truly be interested in someone as ordinary as him.
As Kirk gets increasingly nervous about their budding relationship, his insecurities are exacerbated by his skeptical friends and disapproving family. Their critical opinions and endless comparisons lead Kirk to constantly question his worthiness. Tensions rise as he faces one awkward situation after another, from meeting Molly's successful ex-boyfriend to dealing with his own ex-girlfriend who suddenly wants him back. Throughout these challenging interactions, Kirk struggles to gain confidence and believe that genuine affection can exist between the two of them despite their apparent differences. Eventually, the strain of self-doubt and external pressures prompts Kirk to reevaluate what he truly desires from life and whether he can overcome his fears to attain it.
