The UK Blu-ray release of "Batman Ninja" delivers an outstanding 1080p/AVC-encoded High Definition video presentation. Presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen, the video quality is distinguished by a unique and striking visual style that sets it apart from previous DCU titles. The exceptional detailing, surpassing simple line drawings with intricate anime flourishes, is impressive. These nuances breathe life into every movement and landscape shot, allowing the audience to fully appreciate the depth and textures of the visuals.
The color scheme is equally noteworthy, with period tones complemented by vibrant primaries and neon tones, especially evident in the video-game-esque sequences featuring the hierarchy of villains. The painted feel of the animation is elevated by the vivid representation of characters like The Joker, who stands out with his iconic purple and green palette. Strong black levels that efficiently avoid crush further contribute to a striking visual experience. Overall, this Blu-ray presentation excels in doing justice to the memorable and distinctive visual style of "Batman Ninja."

"Batman Ninja" is an extraordinary artistic venture that solidifies itself as the finest visual experience within the DC animated universe. Capturing the mystique of a steampunk, feudal Japan setting, the film successfully merges anime aesthetics with Batman lore to create a visually stunning work. The striking animation is not merely for show; it complements a captivating story where Gorilla Grodd’s time portal sends Batman and his adversaries back to feudal Japan. Here, figures like Two-Face, Bane, Poison Ivy, and Penguin have established dominions, while the Joker presides over them all. Despite appearing as an unlikely narrative on paper, "Batman Ninja" proves to be a memorable affront to conventional storytelling within the genre and stands out as a unique gem.
The action in "Batman Ninja" sets it apart from typical superhero fare, showcasing fast-paced combat and grandiose battle sequences that integrate period weaponry with modern arsenals. This blend results in exhilarating confrontations that draw viewers into a feverish alternate universe. The movie’s embrace of classic anime style—eschewing influences from Western superhero narratives—reinforces its unique identity. It manages to overshadow some of the lesser achievements within the DC animated universe and even stands in stark contrast to live-action adaptations hampered by attempts to replicate the Marvel formula. "Batman Ninja" unapologetically celebrates its anime roots, making for an unexpectedly harmonious fusion with the Batman mythos.

"Batman Ninja" delivers a refreshing blend of DC Comics and traditional Japanese anime, placing iconic characters in an enthralling feudal Japan setting. The film's ambitious narrative and stylized animation create a unique visual experience that diverges creatively from typical DC Animated Universe (DCAU) fare, offering a novel 'Elseworlds' adventure that surpasses Gotham by Gaslight in execution. While some elements feel uneven, the film’s commitment to its distinct aesthetic and the innovative fusion of cultural storytelling elevate it significantly.
Warner's UK Blu-ray presentation of "Batman Ninja" excels in both audio and video quality, ensuring that the intricate details of the anime-styled artistry are vividly rendered. The SteelBook edition is particularly noteworthy for collectors, providing a visually appealing package that retains identical on-disc content to the standard release. Despite limited differentiation in artwork from the wide release, the collectible packaging stands out in its own right. Audio tracks deliver an immersive experience, effectively bringing the dynamic action sequences and atmospheric score to life.
DC’s animated ventures have often set higher benchmarks compared to their live-action counterparts, with this release further demonstrating that trend. While it may not be flawless, "Batman Ninja" remains a commendable cross-genre experiment. The film's creative ambition and the high-quality Blu-ray release make it a recommended addition for both DC and anime enthusiasts.
Conclusively, "Batman Ninja" stands as a memorable gem within both the DC and anime realms. Its distinctive approach offers a fresh and captivating reinterpretation of beloved characters, providing an engaging viewing experience. Warner's Blu-ray release, with its excellent audio/visual presentation and attractive packaging, ensures that this innovative film receives the spotlight it deserves. Highly recommended for fans of either genre.

PlotBatman is mysteriously transported from modern-day Gotham City to feudal Japan. He soon realizes that his arch-nemesis, the Joker, along with other villains, has also been sent back in time and are now warlords ruling over the fragmented lands. Batman, initially deprived of his advanced technology and gadgets, must adapt to this ancient era. Along the way, he allies with Catwoman and various feudal lords who share his mission to restore peace and order by thwarting the chaos sown by these villains.
The story unfolds as Batman seeks to rally support from classic allies like Robin, Nightwing, Red Robin, and the Red Hood, each already in the period and having adapted to its ways. Their combined efforts focus on dismantling Joker's tyranny and encountering various traditional Japanese elements, resulting in a dynamic blend of samurai and ninja action. Utilizing both his intellect and newfound ancient skills, Batman prepares for an ultimate showdown against the Joker and his league of transformed rogues.
