In a Nutshell
Uplifting yet slightly manufactured, this 4K shines: crisp 2160p, dynamic Dolby Atmos, and standout turns from Crowe, Zellweger, and Giamatti.

Universal’s 2160p Dolby Vision transfer delivers a clear upgrade: deeper, inky blacks with better shadow detail, sharper textures and stitching, and a convincingly grim, earthy palette. The 2.39:1 image stays filmic with bold contrast and pleasing motion.
Audio: 86
The new Dolby Atmos mix is largely front-focused yet opens up convincingly in the ring and on the docks/bar, with surrounds delivering crowd roar, ambience, and score. Dialogue stays crisp in the center, while bass is deep but controlled—punches land with palpable weight.
Extra: 86
Stacked but recycled extras: everything ported from prior discs, all in standard definition, with no new content. Three commentaries (Ron Howard, Akiva Goldsman, Cliff Hollingsworth), ample featurettes and deleted scenes, plus archival Braddock vs. Baer fight footage.

Ron Howard’s true-story crowd-pleaser lands on 4K with a pleasing 2160p presentation and a robust Dolby Atmos mix; legacy extras are retained. Performances shine, even if the film can feel overlong. A respectful 20th‑anniversary release that rewards fans.
