The Blu-ray of "Toy Story 3" debuts with a top-tier 1080p AVC/MPEG-4 transfer, framed in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Visually, this release is flawless, presenting imagery that is breathtakingly clean with zero grain. Colors explode off the screen with striking vibrancy, and the level of detail is absolutely meticulous. Furry characters, traditionally a CGI challenge, are rendered with such texture and lifelike precision that it's hard not to want to touch them. The scene where Ken shows off his wardrobe highlights the extraordinary precision in textures and patterns.
The depth of the image throughout the film is superb, featuring excellent contrast and deep blacks in night scenes. Each frame appears almost three-dimensional due to the sharpness and impeccable renderings of fine details. The saturated colors are especially notable for their gradational subtlety and rich textures. Exceptional edge definition and clarity make every small detail—from Lotso's weathered fur to the minutest piece of garbage at the dump—astonishingly lifelike.
On the technical side, the presentation is nearly flawless. Artifacting, noise, digital clutter, and ringing are non-existent, ensuring a pristine viewing experience. Although there might be fleeting instances of banding and aliasing, these are so minor that they will evade all but the most meticulous viewers. Overall, this release exemplifies High Definition perfection, making it an ideal addition to demonstrate the capabilities of modern HD technology.

The audio presentation of "Toy Story 3" on Blu-ray is nothing short of remarkable, featuring a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix that delivers an immersive and precise aural experience. The soundfield is meticulously crafted; dialogue is crystal clear and masterfully prioritized, ensuring that every nuance of the cast's performances is perceptible. The sound design cleverly utilizes the surround format, balancing ambient sounds and dynamic activity without overwhelming the listener. Circumstantial shifts, such as the chaotic Sunnydale Daycare Center scene, effectively place the viewer amidst the commotion, vividly portraying the intense environment with screaming children and bustling toys. This consistency in sound quality remains evident through various scenarios, including Woody's aerial escapades and the perilous end sequences, where the deep, room-shaking bass enhances the dramatic tension without obscuring the dialogue.
The soundtrack's intricate balance between subtlety and power is noteworthy. Early scenes delight with subtle ambient details while action-packed sequences harness low frequency effects, producing robust bass transients capable of shaking the room. Each sound effect is articulated with precision, allowing for a rich, enveloping experience. The directional audio placement impressively guides the listener’s attention through smooth pans and distinct sound placements. The use of rear speakers is both aggressive and entertaining, enhancing ambient elements and creating a believable acoustic environment regardless of the setting. Particularly noteworthy are scenes involving heavy environmental sounds like the garbage truck or the dramatic escape from the waste disposal facility; these moments are delivered with palpable intensity through the powerful LFE output.
Overall, "Toy Story 3" offers a demo-worthy audio experience from start to finish. The audio track captivates with its blend of dynamism and finesse, making it a standout example of Blu-ray sound design excellence. Disney and Pixar have evidently achieved an impressive balance, creating an engaging and enveloping auditory journey that complements the film’s visual splendor perfectly.

This Blu-ray release is accompanied by an extensive collection of bonus material that will captivate audiences for hours.
The narrative expertly continues the cherished saga of Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) as Andy, their now 17-year-old owner, prepares to leave for college. What follows is a tale rich with clever scripting, brilliant animation, and compelling voice performances from an ensemble cast that includes Joan Cusack, Michael Keaton, and Ned Beatty. PlotAs Andy prepares to leave for college, his loyal toys face an uncertain future. Andy decides to take Woody with him and plans to store the rest of the toys in the attic. However, through a mix-up, the toys are instead donated to Sunnyside Daycare. At Sunnyside, the toys are initially overjoyed, believing they have found a new home where they will be played with every day. Woody, who knows the truth of their intended destination, attempts to convince them to return home, but they are not swayed and Woody sets off alone.
The joy of Sunnyside quickly turns sour as the toys encounter the harsh reality of the daycare's toy hierarchy, where not all toys are treated equally. A plush bear named Lotso leads the daycare toys with an iron fist, relegating Andy's toys to the chaotic and destructive younger children. Woody learns of the danger his friends are in and encounters new allies as he embarks on a mission to return and rescue them. Unbeknownst to Woody, his friends are plotting their own escape, unwilling to suffer a lifetime of abuse and neglect under Lotso's regime.
