The Sweeney: 50th Anniversary Blu-ray Release on June 2nd

The Sweeney: The Complete First Series, the iconic British TV show, will mark its 50th anniversary with a special Blu-ray release by British label Old Gold Media. This newly restored edition is scheduled to be available from June 2, 2025. This release will be a part of a series of individual releases for Series 2, 3, and 4 that will follow later in 2025.

The show, which originally aired in 1975, redefined the TV police drama genre by introducing Detective Inspector Jack Regan (played by John Thaw) and Detective Sergeant George Carter (portrayed by Dennis Waterman), officers who focused more on results than rules. These unconventional heroes will once again take on London's toughest criminals in this celebratory release.

Presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio, this definitive collector’s set includes both versions of the pilot episode, along with an impressive array of special features and bonus materials.
