The Sound of Music (1965), directed by Robert Wise, is making it's way to 4K Blu-ray from 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment as a three-disc 60th Anniversary edition. Set in 1930s Austria, spirited novice Maria (Julie Andrews) is sent by her convent to be governess to Captain von Trapp’s (Christopher Plummer) seven children, winning their hearts—and their father’s—with her warmth, charm, and unforgettable songs like “Do-Re-Mi” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
The 4K restoration, overseen by Disney’s award-winning team, was created through a meticulous nine-month process, including digital scanning of preserved film elements and expert clean-up to correct dirt, warping, and color issues. The film is more vivid, moving, and magical than ever, featuring Dolby Vision/HDR presentation and a Dolby Atmos audio track with optional English SDH, Spanish, and French subtitles alongside.
