The Nightwatch Collection Blu-ray Releases July 21
Arrow Video presents a comprehensive edition of Nightwatch and Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever with new restorations and extensive extras
The Nightwatch Collection arrives on Blu-ray from Arrow Video, offering the seminal Nordic Noir films by writer-director Ole Bornedal in a detailed new edition. This set includes Nightwatch (1994), which marked the breakout of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kim Bodnia, alongside its 2023 sequel Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever.
Nightwatch follows law student Martin (Coster-Waldau) working nights at a morgue during a grim murder spree in Copenhagen, facing suspicion while wrestling with the truth. In Demons Are Forever, Martin’s daughter Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) confronts a new wave of killings echoing her father’s trauma, blending psychological tension with the roots of Nordic Noir.
This two-disc Blu-ray set features high-definition presentations of both films with optional English subtitles. The special features include a fresh commentary by Ole Bornedal, a newly filmed interview with cinematographer Dan Laustsen, plus video essays by critics Barry Forshaw, Heather Wixson, and Alexandra Heller-Nicholas. Also included are making-of documentaries, trailers, and insightful archival materials.
Packaging showcases reversible artwork and a double-sided foldout poster by Peter Strain. An illustrated collector’s booklet provides new critical essays by Eva Novrup Redvall to enrich the understanding of these influential thrillers.
