The Lords of Discipline 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Arrive August 26 from Kino Lorber
Kino Lorber releases Franc Roddam's 1983 drama in new 4K restoration with dual-disc set including interviews and commentaries
The Lords of Discipline (1983), directed by Franc Roddam and based on Pat Conroy's novel, arrives on 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on August 26. The film stars David Keith as cadet Will McLean, who confronts the secret society The Ten and its hold over the Carolina Military Institute amid racial integration in 1964.
This dual-disc release features a new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative, presented in Dolby Vision HDR on the UHD disc. The audio options include 5.1 surround sound and lossless 2.0 tracks, with optional English subtitles available.
The 4K UHD disc offers a triple-layered UHD100 format with a brand-new HDR master, while the Blu-ray disc presents a new HD master from the same 4K scan on a dual-layered BD50 disc. Both discs include a fresh audio commentary by film historians Steve Mitchell and Nathaniel Thompson along with Pat Conroy historian Lynn Smith.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray are new interviews titled An Actor and a Gentleman featuring David Keith (14:30), and Films to Change the World with director Franc Roddam (40:14), expanding on the movie’s themes and production.
