The Inquisitor + Deadly Circuit 4K Blu-ray & Blu-ray Set Arrives August 18
Radiance Films releases a three-disc edition featuring new 4K and 2K restorations with extensive supplements
The Inquisitor and Deadly Circuit come together in a special three-disc set from Radiance Films, scheduled for release on August 18. This set includes a newly created 4K restoration of The Inquisitor alongside a 2K restoration of Deadly Circuit, both masterpieces of French polar cinema directed by Claude Miller.
The Inquisitor stars Michel Serrault and Lino Ventura in a gripping police drama investigating a lawyer accused of heinous crimes, while Deadly Circuit features Serrault as a private investigator obsessed with a murderess played by Isabelle Adjani. These films highlight Miller's dark sensibility and command strong performances from a distinguished cast.
Audio on both titles is provided as original uncompressed mono PCM. The package includes a variety of special features such as the documentary Success Story about the making of The Inquisitor, an interview with Claude Miller and Michel Audiard from 1981, and an appreciation by filmmaker Patrice Leconte. Also included is the TV episode Reverse Short [Champ contrechamp] discussing crime fiction with Miller and other contributors, along with an audio commentary on Deadly Circuit by critic Rachael Nisbet.
Additional supplements explore Deadly Circuit’s production through a documentary featuring co-screenwriter Jacques Adiard, director of photography Pierre Lhomme, and producer Charles Gassot; A Hypnotic Fascination — an interview with filmmaker Philippe Le Guay; and the original theatrical trailers for both films.
Radiance Films provides new English subtitles and presents the set in full-height Scanavo packaging with a reversible sleeve that features original poster-inspired artwork. A limited edition booklet includes new writing by Adam Scovell alongside an archival interview with Miller. The edition is limited to 3000 copies (with 1000 dedicated to the Blu-ray-only edition), offered without certificates or markings on the packaging.
This set is a Region B release, suitable for UK players.
