The Great Chase Blu-ray Release Set for June by Neon Video
Neon Eagle Video debuts Norifumi Suzuki's classic action film 'The Great Chase' on Blu-ray, featuring a new 2K restoration.
The Great Chase, directed by exploitation cinema maven Norifumi Suzuki, makes its grand arrival on Blu-ray courtesy of Neon Eagle Video, in partnership with Cauldron Films. Scheduled for release in June, this offering marks the first time the film will be available both in the United States and globally on Blu-ray.
Starring Etsuko Shihomi as Shinobu Yashiro, a racecar driver and covert operative for the Japanese Defense Agency, the film takes viewers through a thrilling mission to dismantle a heroin smuggling ring. Filled with action and adventure, this mid-70s pinky violence-lite caper is packed with peculiar elements that promise to entertain.
Alongside Hisako Tanaka and Mach Fumiake, Shihomi delivers an energetic performance amidst an ensemble cast including singing lady wrestlers, a whip-wielding nun, and a Native American-dressed assassin. Touted for its eclectic funk-jazz soundtrack, the film boasts exhilarating stunts and moments of unexpected humor.
Neon Eagle Video presents this Western debut with a series of special features tailored for fans and collectors alike. The disc includes a brand-new 2K restoration of the film and fresh commentary by Chris Poggiali and John Charles. Additionally, an interview with critic/historian Tatsuya Masuto, a full-color booklet with liner notes by Nathan Stuart (limited edition only), a slipcover featuring newly designed artwork by Justin Coffee (limited edition only), and a reversible cover with the original Japanese artwork embellish the release.
Presented in Japanese with English subtitles, The Great Chase Blu-ray is region-A locked.
