The Beyond 4K Blu-ray Standard Edition Arrives July 29
Grindhouse Releasing issues Lucio Fulci’s 1981 horror classic on 4K Blu-ray with Dolby Vision and extensive bonus features
The Beyond (1981), directed by Lucio Fulci, arrives on standard 4K Blu-ray from Grindhouse Releasing on July 29, 2025. Starring Catriona MacColl, David Warbeck, Cinzia Monreale, Antoine Saint-John, and Veronica Lazar, this release offers a comprehensive presentation of this Italian horror staple.
The film centers on Liza (Katherine MacColl), who inherits an abandoned Louisiana motel above one of seven portals to hell. As mysterious deaths and supernatural encounters escalate, Liza seeks help from local doctor John McCabe (David Warbeck), dragging both into an apocalyptic confrontation with otherworldly forces.
This edition features a new 4K restoration from the original Techniscope negative, enhanced with Dolby Vision HDR. It includes two versions of the film: the original theatrical cut with Dolby Vision and a Composer’s Cut with a new 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio surround mix, reimagined score by Fabio Frizzi, and Dolby Vision presentation. Also present is an archival 5.1 surround remix by Academy Award winner Paul Ottosson, plus optional Italian language and original mono soundtracks.
Bonus materials include three separate commentary tracks by cinematographer Sergio Salvati, makeup artist Giannetto De Rossi, and stars Catriona MacColl and David Warbeck. Extensive interviews with the cast and crew offer deep insight into the film's production and legacy. Newly discovered archival interviews and a wealth of still galleries and trailers enhance the package.
Additional content comprises a bonus DVD featuring the notorious Aquarius Pictures version of the film, “The 7 Doors of Death,” with its original Dolby Stereo mix and new interviews. The included bonus CD presents Fabio Frizzi’s Composer’s Cut soundtrack, remastered from the original studio tapes.
The set is housed in deluxe debossed Book of Eibon packaging with slipcover artwork by legendary Italian poster artist Emanuele Taglietti.
