Milestone Films is set to release a Blu-ray edition of Charles Burnett's captivating film, The Annihilation of Fish, on June 17, 2025. Known for its profound storytelling, the film stars James Earl Jones as Obidiah Fish Johnson, a Jamaican widower battling an imaginary entity named Hank. Meanwhile, he encounters Poinsettia, portrayed by Lynn Redgrave, in Los Angeles where they navigate life under the roof of eccentric landlady Mrs. Muldroone (Margot Kidder).
This long-lost cinematic gem stands out for its humor and compassion, spotlighting Burnett, a celebrated filmmaker honored with an Honorary Oscar® for lifetime achievement. The release features a newly restored version of the film, thanks to the collaborative restoration efforts by UCLA Film & Television Archive and Milestone Films, supported by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.
