Raro Video announces the anticipated 4K Blu-ray release of Lina Wertmüller's 1974 classic, Swept Away. This restored edition, set to hit shelves on April 29, allows audiences to revisit the provocative world Wertmüller masterfully crafted. The film stars Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato in a tale where love, politics, and power are tested when a social structure is unexpectedly upended.

Set amidst the azure beauty of the Mediterranean, Swept Away unfolds on a yacht cruising off Sardinia's coast. The plot centers around Raffaella, a wealthy capitalist portrayed by Melato, who finds herself marooned on an island with Gennarino, a committed Communist sailor played by Giannini. As situations evolve, the film skillfully examines themes of class struggle and human dependency.

This 2024 restoration was meticulously carried out from the original negatives by the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, in collaboration with Minerva Pictures and Mediaset, ensuring that this edition captures every nuance of Wertmüller's vision.
