Splendid Outing (1978), directed by Kim Soo-yong, is making its Worldwide Blu-ray Debut on December 8 from Radiance Films as a Limited Edition. After a haunting dream of her late twin sister, corporate tycoon Gong Do-hee (Yoon Jeong-hee) sets out for a drive to the coast, only to find herself abducted and confined by a rough island fisherman who mistakes her for his missing wife. Featuring a daring critique of political oppression that slipped past the censors, Kim Soo-yong’s bold modernist drama endures as one of the defining works of 1970s Korean cinema.
The disc uses a High-Definition digital transfer from a 4K scan by the Korean Film Archive and carries uncompressed mono PCM audio and newly improved English subtitles. It will be presented in full-height Scanavo packaging with a removable OBI strip and reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned artwork by Time Tomorrow. Limited to 2,500 copies.
