Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow 4K Blu-ray Arrives May 27
Shout Factory releases a two-disc 4K and Blu-ray set with new transfer, commentaries, and extensive extras
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), directed by Kerry Conran, arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Shout Factory on May 27. This two-disc edition features a new 4K transfer from the original 35mm digital negative, presented in Dolby Vision HDR.
The film stars Gwyneth Paltrow as Polly Perkins, an intrepid reporter who teams with ace aviator Joseph 'Sky Captain' Sullivan, played by Jude Law, to stop a world-threatening robotic attack. Co-starring Angelina Jolie, the film blends sci-fi and action in a stylized visual format.
Disc One includes the 4K Blu-ray presentation with two audio commentaries: one featuring director Kerry Conran, production designer Kevin Conran, animation director Steve Yamamoto, and visual effects supervisor Darin Hollings; and another with producer Jon Avnet. Optional English subtitles are also available.
Disc Two offers a Blu-ray with the same new 4K transfer and repeated commentaries. Supplementary material includes a two-part making-of documentary titled Brave New World, The Art of World of Tomorrow featurette, Anatomy of A Virtual Scene, the original six-minute short, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and theatrical trailers.
