Kino Lorber presents Cy Endfield's 1965 survival drama restored in 4K with new commentary and extras
Sands of the Kalahari (1965), directed by Cy Endfield, arrives on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on June 17. This 60th anniversary edition features a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative courtesy of Paramount Pictures. The cast includes Stuart Whitman, Stanley Baker, Susannah York, Harry Andrews, and Theodore Bikel.
The film follows the survivors of a small plane crash in the South African jungle who struggle to return to civilisation. The group is led by the self-appointed Brian O'Brien (Whitman), whose leadership is challenged when he kills fellow survivor Grimmelman (Andrews), placing him in peril to the jungle's dangers.
This edition includes an audio commentary by film historians Howard S. Berger and Nathaniel Thompson, plus the original theatrical trailer. The package features optional English subtitles and is housed in a limited edition O-Card slipcase, providing collectors and fans with a complete presentation of this survival thriller.
