Radiance Films Presents: La Terra Trema - June 23 Release
Radiance Films to release restored Italian classic with extras
La Terra Trema, a cornerstone of Italian neorealism, is set to be released by Radiance Films in a 2K restored edition. Originally commissioned as propaganda by the Communist Party, the film by acclaimed director Luchino Visconti explores the lives of the Valastro family who struggle against exploitative wholesalers in a Sicilian fishing village. The project transforms real villagers from Aci Trezza into actors, offering an unvarnished portrayal of post-World War II rural life.
The restoration, completed by Cineteca Nazionale, revives the film's visual depth and authenticity. The disc includes an array of special features that delve deeper into both the film itself and its cultural context. The release comes with interviews featuring historian Christina Newland, Italian politician Pietro Ingrao, assistant director Francesco Rosi, and production figure Turi Vasile. Additionally, it offers newly improved English subtitles and a visually arresting reversible sleeve.
This limited edition of 3,000 copies is presented with an exclusive booklet containing new and archival writings and packaged in a full-height Scanavo case free from certificates and markings thanks to a removable OBI strip.
