Out of the Clouds Blu-ray Releases August 19 from Indicator/Powerhouse Films
Indicator/Powerhouse Films brings Out of the Clouds on Blu-ray with a 2K restoration and extensive extras this August.
Out of the Clouds chronicles twenty-four hours within a bustling airport, following intersecting lives including Gus (Anthony Steel), a pilot entangled in smuggling, Nick (Robert Beatty), a duty officer vying for attention, and Bill (David Knight), an engineer who falls for Leah (Margo Lorenz).
The film was partially shot at London Airport (now Heathrow) and benefits from technical collaboration with airlines and the Ministry of Transport, lending authenticity to its narrative. It features a screenplay co-written by documentary pioneer John Eldridge.
This release presents two versions of the film: the original UK theatrical cut at 89 minutes and the shorter US theatrical cut at 80 minutes. The transfer uses a 2K restoration, with original mono audio maintained.
Special features include Fully Grounded (2025), an introduction by director and screenwriter James Dearden; Jonathan Rigby on James Robertson Justice (2025), a career overview of the actor; Waverley Steps (1948), a city symphony short directed by John Eldridge; along with image galleries containing promotional materials and dialogue continuity scripts. New English subtitles designed for the deaf and hard of hearing are included.
The limited edition also includes a booklet with a new essay by Robert Murphy, archival profiles of cast members Eunice Grayson, Margo Lorenz, and James Robertson Justice, extracts from the film's pressbook, writings on Waverley Steps, and full film credits.
The Blu-ray is distributed by Indicator/Powerhouse Films and scheduled for release in the US on August 19, 2025.
