On The Silver Globe 4K Blu-ray Release Set for May 31

On The Silver Globe (Na Srebrnym Globie), directed by Andrzej Zulawski, arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Mondo Vision on May 31, 2025. This release marks the film's first official North American availability and worldwide debut in 4K, presenting a meticulously supervised restoration by original cinematographer Andrzej Jaroszewicz.

Originally shot between 1977 and 1988, the film is a blend of science fiction and philosophical allegory. Its production was halted in 1977 by political authorities who destroyed much of the footage and sets. The project was shelved until 1987 when Zulawski was permitted to complete the film, incorporating contemporary images to piece together the story without reconstructing the lost elements.

The 4K restoration presents the full 165-minute cut in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio with Polish Mono DTS-HD Master Audio. This release is uncut, uncensored, and aims to preserve the raw visual intensity and complex narrative of the work. It includes Dolby Vision HDR presentation to enhance image fidelity.

The package features a comprehensive two-disc set including a CD and an extensive array of special features. Highlights include two documentaries: Short Life, Long Death: The Making & Un-Making Of On The Silver Globe (46 minutes) and Escape To The Silver Globe (94 minutes), an exclusive audio commentary with Zulawski recorded in 2012, a trailer reel, photo gallery, and optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish.

Additionally, a 68-page commemorative booklet accompanies the release, containing archival essays, interviews, rare photos, and new scholarly contributions.
