Oasis of Fear Blu-ray Arrives June 2 from Shameless Entertainment
Umberto Lenzi's provocative 1971 home-invasion thriller restored in 2K with new interviews and extras
Oasis of Fear (also known as An Ideal Place to Kill and Dirty Pictures) arrives on Blu-ray on June 2 from Shameless Entertainment. Directed by Umberto Lenzi, a key figure in Italian shock cinema, this 1971 film blends explicit shocks with suspense in a home-invasion thriller.
The story follows Ornella Muti and Ray Lovelock as free-spirited hippies who sell erotic photos until their operation is shut down by police. They seek refuge at a villa owned by Barbara (Irene Papas), whose charm disguises sinister motives. The plot escalates into a tense psychological game involving blackmail, torture threats, and murder.
This release features a newly restored 2K transfer from the original camera negative, bringing out the lush cinematography and a catchy pop soundtrack typical of 1970s Italian exploitation cinema. New exclusive interviews include Ornella Muti discussing her early career and director Umberto Lenzi sharing insights on the making of the film.
Additional features include the Wilson Bros Trivia Track, original trailer, new English subtitles with SDH, an alternative Italian audio track with new translations, an o-card, reversible sleeve, and exclusive artwork paired with the original poster. This region-free edition offers a comprehensive presentation for collectors and fans.
