Monty Python and the Holy Grail 50th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray Steelbook Arrives August 26

Monty Python and the Holy Grail celebrates its 50th anniversary with a new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, scheduled for August 26, 2025. This limited edition Steelbook edition offers a comprehensive presentation of the cult classic directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones.

The first disc features the film in 4K resolution, presented with Dolby Vision HDR, alongside audio options including English Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, and Mono. It also includes a near-theatrical version of the film in HD resolution, replicating the slightly shorter VHS version titled "Near-Theatrical Version."

Special supplements on the 4K disc include "'Tis But A Tribute – 50 Years of Monty Python and the Holy Grail," where over 25 prominent comedy figures reflect on the film's legacy and ongoing influence.

The second disc is a Blu-ray presenting the feature in HD with English 5.1 and Mono soundtracks. It offers extensive extras such as two audio commentaries featuring Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, and another with John Cleese, Eric Idle, and Michael Palin.

Additional features include a 2015 Tribeca Film Festival Q&A with the main cast, outtakes and extended scenes introduced by Terry Jones, lost animations with commentary by Terry Gilliam, location documentaries, and various unique quirky extras like "Lego Knights" and "How to Use Your Coconuts." The release also contains the original theatrical trailer and a photo gallery.

The film runs approximately 92 minutes in a 1.66:1 aspect ratio, rated PG. This anniversary set reflects Sony Pictures' commitment to preserving classic cinema with contemporary audio-visual technology for collectors and fans.
