Distribpix releases Bernardo Bertolucci's restored 1972 film with new 4K restoration and archival interviews
Last Tango in Paris (1972), directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and starring Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider, arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Distribpix on April 29, 2025. This release features a new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative, supervised by three-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro.
The film explores a tumultuous and intensely passionate relationship between two strangers, Paul and Jeanne, set against the backdrop of Paris. Without any prior connections, the characters traverse themes of desire, loss, and grief within the confines of a studio apartment, which becomes their sanctuary. The story pushes cinematic boundaries with its carefully structured narrative and expressive visuals.
This combo pack presents a Dolby Vision HDR presentation of the film, delivering enhanced picture quality and vibrant detail. It also includes English SDH subtitles for accessibility.
The special features provide in-depth context and insights through extensive interviews and featurettes. Included are conversations with editor Roberto Perpignani discussing his collaborations with Bertolucci, as well as archival interviews with the director himself.
