Kingpin 4K Blu-ray Arrives May 27
Kino Lorber to Release Peter and Bobby Farrelly's Comedy Classic on 4K Blu-ray
Kino Lorber has formally announced the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of Kingpin (1996), directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. This iconic comedy, featuring standout performances by Woody Harrelson as Roy Munson and Bill Murray as the notorious Ernie McCracken, will be available on May 27, 2025.
The plot unfolds as Roy Munson, once a bright bowling talent, finds his career in ruins after a deceitful encounter with Ernie McCracken leaves him seriously injured. Years later, Roy's fortunes take a turn when he discovers Amish bowler Ishmael, portrayed by Randy Quaid, prompting a new plan to elevate Ishmael to bowling stardom with the assistance of a mobster's girlfriend, played by Vanessa Angel.
The two-disc release promises an enhanced viewing experience, featuring a new 4K restoration of the theatrical cut from the original camera negative and Dolby Vision/HDR presentation. Additionally, both discs provide optional English subtitles and superior audio formats, including 5.1 surround sound and lossless 2.0 audio.
