Inflatable Sex Doll of the Wastelands Blu-ray out April 29
New details and specs for Deaf Crocodile's upcoming release: Limited and Standard editions
Deaf Crocodile unveils comprehensive details for its Limited and Standard Blu-ray editions of Inflatable Sex Doll of the Wastelands, a 1967 film by noted director/writer Atsushi Yamatoya. Starring Miki Watari, Yūichi Minato, Shōhei Yamamoto, and others, this release will be available starting April 29, 2025.
The film follows an introspective journey of revenge led by a hitman named Shō, played by Yūichi Minato. A tale immersed in shadows and vengeance, its fragmented narrative echoes stylistic traits akin to John Boorman's Point Blank and Christopher Nolan's Memento.
Yamatoya, known for his collaboration on Seijun Suzuki's Branded to Kill, infuses the film with subversive techniques like erratic flashbacks, cryptic dialogue, and a dissonant jazz score, creating a striking resemblance to the works of Russ Meyer and Radley Metzger. This cinematic experience presents a gritty, noir aesthetic reminiscent of a surreal nightmare, particularly for fans of American arthouse erotic cinema.
The movie is digitally restored from its singular surviving 35mm elements, thanks to Rapid Eye Movies' efforts in Germany, and was restored by Craig Rogers.
