Kino Lorber releases Happy Gilmore 4K Blu-ray with new 6K restoration, audio commentary, and extensive extras
Happy Gilmore (1996), directed by Dennis Dugan and starring Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Carl Weathers, arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on August 19, 2025.
This comedy follows Happy Gilmore, who discovers his hockey slap shot translates into an extraordinary golf swing, leading him to compete on the pro golf tour to save his grandmother's home. The film balances slapstick humor with memorable characters, including Happy's rival Shooter McGavin, played by McDonald.
The 4K Blu-ray edition features a new 6K restoration from the original negative (Arri Dry Gate Full Aperture 5460 x 4150 16-Bit) presented in Dolby Vision HDR. Audio options include a new commentary track by author and filmmaker Bryan Connolly alongside The Billy Gilmore Podcast host Wilson Smith, as well as 5.1 Surround and lossless stereo mixes. English subtitles are optional.
Included is a second disc Blu-ray with the same 6K restoration and audio commentary. It offers six deleted scenes totaling roughly 18 minutes, a 5-minute outtakes reel, and the newly mastered theatrical trailer in 2K resolution.
