Fresh Blu-ray Arrives August 25 from StudioCanal
StudioCanal releases Boaz Yakin’s Fresh on Blu-ray featuring a new 4K restoration and extensive bonus materials
Fresh (1994), directed by Boaz Yakin, comes to Blu-ray from StudioCanal on August 25. The film stars Sean Nelson, Giancarlo Esposito, Samuel L. Jackson, N’Bushe Wright, and Guillermo Diaz.
The story follows twelve-year-old Fresh (Nelson), a runner in Brooklyn who carries heroin and crack cocaine for dealers including the intimidating Esteban (Esposito). Using lessons from his chess-playing father (Jackson) alongside his instincts, Fresh seeks to manipulate his dangerous employers against each other to secure his freedom.
This release features an exclusive new 4K restoration of the film, enhancing the visual presentation on Blu-ray. The disc also includes multiple interviews providing insight into the production: a new interview with director Yakin titled The Rookie, conversations with actor Sean Nelson (Fresh on Fresh), cinematographer Adam Holender (Framing Fresh), composer Stewart Copeland (Fresh Sounds), and producer Lawrence Bender (Practical & Poetic).
Additionally, archival interviews from 1994 with Samuel L. Jackson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Sean Nelson along with N’Bushe Wright are included. The original theatrical trailer is also part of the special features.
English SDH subtitles are available for the main feature, supporting accessibility and viewing preferences.
