Janus Films presents a promo for the new 4K restoration of René Clément's 1952 classic, no Blu-ray date yet
Janus Films has released a promotional trailer showcasing the newly completed 4K restoration of Forbidden Games (1952), directed by René Clément. The film stars Georges Poujouly, Brigitte Fossey, Amédée, Jacques Marin, and Lucien Hubert.
Forbidden Games offers a poignant depiction of innocence lost during wartime, focusing on a young orphaned girl who forms a bond with a farm boy. Together, they create a somber world of childhood make-believe amid the horrors surrounding them. The film balances elements of myth and stark realism, highlighting the notable performances of its child actors.
This work was recognized with a special Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1952, underscoring its significance in cinema history. Janus Films has not yet announced a specific Blu-ray release date for this restoration.
