Drop Zone 4K Blu-ray Arrives April 29 from Cinematographe
John Badham's 1994 action thriller restored in 4K with extensive new supplements from Cinematographe
Drop Zone, directed by John Badham, releases on 4K Blu-ray from Cinematographe on April 29, 2025. The film stars Wesley Snipes, Gary Busey, Yancy Butler, Michael Jeter, and Corin Nemec in a high-stakes action thriller centered on U.S. Marshal Pete Nessip trying to recapture a fugitive amidst a terrorist skyjacking.
Set against a backdrop of skydiving and government conspiracy, the story follows Pete Nessip (Wesley Snipes) after a lethal hijacking causes the death of his partner Terry (Malcolm-Jamal Warner). Nessip joins forces with skydiving instructor Jessie Crossmann (Yancy Butler) to stop ex-DEA agent Ty Moncrief (Gary Busey) from executing a daring plan targeting the DEA mainframe.
This release features a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, presented in Dolby Vision/HDR, offering a pristine visual experience. The film benefits from Badham's direction, production design by Joe Alves, and a score by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, complemented by cinematographer Roy H. Wagner's dynamic photography.
Special features enhance the package with two audio commentaries—one by director John Badham and Roy H. Wagner moderated by Justin LaLiberty, and another by film journalist Max Evry. Additional content includes new interviews with producer Wallis Nicita and music historian Daniel Schweiger, a video essay on Badham's career by Daniel Kremer, and new text essays from noted critics and historians.
