Dark Star 4K Blu-ray Combo Pack Arrives June 23 from Fabulous Films

Dark Star (1974), directed by John Carpenter and starring Brian Narelle, Cal Kuniholm, Dre Pahich, Dan O'Bannon, and Nick Castle, arrives on a 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray combo pack from British label Fabulous Films. The release is scheduled for June 23.

The film is a satirical take on Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, following an intergalactic mission tasked with destroying unstable planets. The story centers on four astronauts who pass time between missions by tanning under a sun-lamp, interacting with a plastic-looking alien mascot being transported to Earth, and engaging with their spaceship's female-voiced computer, a counterpart to HAL.

Tension rises when the ship's computer malfunctions, causing a 'smart bomb' aboard to develop a god complex, leading to unpredictable consequences.
