The British Film Institute has officially announced the release of Cronos, the 1993 classic by Guillermo del Toro, on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray. Scheduled for a February 10 release, this edition promises a true cinematic treasure for fans and collectors alike.
The tale follows antiques dealer Jes�s Gris (Federico Luppi) who uncovers a mysterious, ancient artefact resembling a golden mechanical scarab. The device harbors a parasitic force, granting eternal life while cursing its host with a thirst for blood and an aversion to daylight. Alongside Ron Perlman and Claudio Brook, Tamara Xanath and Margarita Isabel enrich the film's chilling narrative.
To celebrate this release, Cronos will screen at BFI IMAX on February 9 with a special introduction by del Toro himself. This release includes a new 4K restoration with Dolby Vision/HDR, immersing viewers in elevated visual fidelity.
