Convoy 4K Blu-ray Releases July 22 from Kino Lorber

Convoy, directed by Sam Peckinpah and released in 1978, stars Kris Kristofferson, Ali MacGraw, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Young, and Madge Sinclair. This classic road movie follows long-distance trucker Rubber Duck (Kristofferson), who evades corrupt sheriff Lyle Wallace (Borgnine) by rallying other truckers via CB radio, forming a massive convoy.

The film arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Kino Lorber on July 22, featuring a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative completed by Studiocanal. The release offers Dolby Vision/HDR presentation and includes both 5.1 surround and lossless 2.0 audio tracks with optional English subtitles.

Collectors will find an array of audio commentaries spanning critic Steve Mitchell, Peckinpah historians Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons, Nick Redman, and filmmaker Mike Siegel. The two-disc set comprises a 4K Blu-ray and a standard Blu-ray that carry additional materials such as a revised 2013 documentary Sam’s Trucker Movie (70:44), a 2024 video essay entitled The Lost Convoy, and several featurettes exploring production details and thematic elements.

Deleted scenes are illustrated with rare photos, accompanied by featurettes like Injokes, Friends & Cameos and The Duck Trucks. Interviews include a segment with Norwegian trucker expert Anders Loefaldli. Visual extras feature extensive galleries of international posters, lobby cards, and hundreds of production stills presented in color and black-and-white. The set also contains theatrical trailers, TV spots, and radio advertisements.
