Contraband (1980), directed by Lucio Fulci, arrives on Blu-ray from British label Shameless Entertainment on May 26. This release presents the film uncut in a 4K restoration from the original vault negative, including exclusive color correction and upgraded audio.
The film stars Fabio Testi as Luca, a cigarette smuggler caught in a brutal mob war motivated by revenge after his brother's murder and wife’s abduction. Marcel Bozzuffi portrays a ruthless drug lord with chilling menace. Fulci’s direction blends crime thriller intensity with horror-style violence, featuring notorious scenes such as the melting face sequence.
This edition includes both original English and Italian audio tracks with new English subtitles and SDH. Special features enhance the release with a new interview of Fabio Testi detailing the real underworld’s involvement during filming, a video essay by Fulci expert Stephen Thrower, and an interview with Antonella Fulci offering insights into her father’s work.
