Cobra 4K Blu-ray Releases July 22 from Arrow Video
Arrow Video presents Cobra with a new 4K restoration, multiple audio options, extras, and collectible packaging.
Cobra (1986), directed by George P. Cosmatos and starring Sylvester Stallone, arrives on 4K Blu-ray from Arrow Video on July 22 in the U.S. and Canada (July 21 in the UK). This release features a brand-new 4K restoration from the original camera negative, presented in Dolby Vision HDR.
The film follows LAPD Lieutenant Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti as he battles a violent cult terrorizing Los Angeles. After witness Ingrid Knudsen (Brigitte Nielsen) survives an attack, Cobra protects her while uncovering a sinister conspiracy threatening the city. Iconic of 80s action cinema, this edition highlights the era's polished, high-energy style.
Audio options include original lossless stereo 2.0, 4.0 surround sound, and DTS-HD MA 5.1. English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing are also available. The disc features two brand-new audio commentaries by critics Kim Newman and Nick de Semlyen, and by scholars Josh Nelson and Martyn Pedler, alongside the archival commentary by director Cosmatos from 1998.
Extras showcase a previously unreleased TV version with deleted scenes, new interviews such as Slashing the Night Away with composer Sylvester Levay, visual essays on the film's genre influences, archive interviews with cast members, and a making-of featurette. The release also includes the original teaser, theatrical trailer, TV spots, image gallery, and reversible sleeve artwork by Tommy Pocket.
